Google Web Accelerator
Google Web Accelerator is an application that uses the power of Google's global computer network to make web pages load faster. Google Web Accelerator is easy to use; all you have to do is download and install it, and from then on many web pages will automatically load faster than before.

Google Web Accelerator uses various strategies to make your web pages load faster, including:

  • Sending your page requests through Google machines dedicated to handling Google Web Accelerator traffic.
  • Storing copies of frequently looked at pages to make them quickly accessible.
  • Downloading only the updates if a web page has changed slightly since you last viewed it.
  • Prefetching certain pages onto your computer in advance.
  • Managing your Internet connection to reduce delays.
  • Compressing data before sending it to your computer.
You can get Google Web Accelerator at http://webaccelerator.google.com/

FasterFox - Guide 2 High Speed Internet
This is for those who have Cable or DSL Connections.Browse fatser than ever with some simple tweaks. I think this is useful as i get faster browsing speed than others eventhough the lab is full.

Step1: Get Firefox

Step2: Get the Firefox extension 'FasterFox' from the firefox site.

Step3: This extension allows us to skip many manual tasks in tweaking Firefox and will save you much time and alot of headaches. After you download Fasterfox, you will have to close Firefox and open it again. Then you will be able to get the settings page for FasterFox.

To modify the FasterFox settings goto:
  • Tools --> Extensions
  • Then Click The FasterFox Extension
At this screen click the Options button when you have Fasterfox extension highlighted. This will open a options window that will allow you to tweak the internet performance settings of Firefox.

  • Turbo-Charged
    • Personally I use this setting and haven't had any problem with web pages loading, however some people have said that some sites will not work when using this setting. If you find this is occuring for you, then I would recommend to go down to optimized.
  • Other the Fasterfox tab in the options menu, you can enable something called "Enhanced Prefetching". This will help load times increase a little on link within pages, however if you enable this and notice pages taking a longer time to load than before we started these tweaks, then I would disable this setting.
Step 4: Next you must do some registry tweaks. REMEMBER: DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK
You van get the data sheet for the reg edits here

Step5:After downloading and running the registry tweaks, close all programs and restart your machine. After your computer boots back up, all the tweaks should be activated and everything should be running alot smoother and faster.

Google Translator and Anonymous Surfing

For every tool there is a use and a misuse.What's the need of Google translator. i dont have have to define it.Even a novice know the answer. Can it be used for anonymous surfing? The answer is a BIG YES!. If you want to access a blocked site you can use the Google translator as the proxy. Just type in the url at the Google website translator and translate it from English to English (quite nutty) and there is no road block.

EchoPointNG - How TO

EchoPointNG (EchoPoint, Next Generation) is a library of additional components for Echo2, it is a port of the EchoPoint component library for the original Echo2 framework. Itz available in cvs or you can get it from "EchopointNG".
Just unzip the archive.It contain the project files of the components.. I mean the class files. Make a jar using them using Apache Tomcat.EchoPointNG comes bundled with an ANT build file, unfortunately it does not work out of the box when using the latest version of Tomcat. To build EchoPointNG with Tomcat 5.5.9, open the included build.properties
CATALINA_HOME=/java/tomcat-4.1.24

Substitute the value with your the directory for your Tomcat installation, next, look for a line that looks like this:

javax_servlet_jar=/java/tomcat-4.1.24/common/lib/servlet.jar

Again, change the value to the location of your Tomcat installation, and change the filename from servlet.jar to servlet-api.jar. EchoPointNG needs the JSP API in its classpath as well, which the servlet-api.jar jar file does not include. Add an additional line to build.properties that looks like this:

javax_jsp_jar=/opt/tomcat/jakarta-tomcat-5.5.9/common/lib/jsp-api.jar
Substitute the location as appropriate for your Tomcat installation. Next, open build.xml, and look for a section that looks like this:

 <path id="library_class_path">
<pathelement location="projects/jar/bin"/>
<pathelement location="${javax_servlet_jar}"/>
<pathelement location="${echo_app_jar}"/>
<pathelement location="${echo_webcontainer_jar}"/>
<pathelement location="${echo_webrender_jar}"/>
<pathelement location="${junit_jar}"/>
</path>

Add a the following line anywhere between the
and tags:

<pathelement location="${javax_jsp_jar}"/>

The default ANT target will generate a jar file named something like echopointng-2.0a5.jar,
javadoc, a war file with a deployable web application demonstrating all of the EchoPointNG components. To develop applications using EchoPointNG, the echopointng-2.0a5.jar must be in the CLASSPATH (the exact name of the jar file will depend on the version of EchoPointNG
downloaded.

Google Treasures

Did Google launch a magazine.The prominent logo on the cover (taking up the top third, as a magazine title would) will make us wonder that if the Internet behemoth hadn’t launched its own magazine. But i was sure they will never publish one without knowing me.
It turns out that this mag isn’t directly Google-produced. This title is something called the Smart Computing series guide to Google. It’s basically a dummies’ guide to digging into the search engine’s Advanced Features, probably with an eye toward work-at-home possibilities. My guess is this is something akin to all those ancillary eBay middleman businesses.

For Ajaxians ...............

If you wanna develop an ajax app the echo framework is a sureshot.Itz a plugin for the famous Eclipse project.I think the installation documentation for echo2 framework is inadequate for a novice both in eclipse and echo.Remember a few points while you install echo. To install echo just copy the 3 jar files in "NextApp_Echo2\BinaryLibraries" to the "plugins" folder of Eclipse -"eclipse-SDK-3.1.1-win32\eclipse\plugins".

Echostudio Installation
I think this is given better in the nextapp site- go here -EchStudio Installation

Restart eclipse if u are running an instance
